Here are the top 10 best cell phone brands in the world. Sony and HTC did not make it on the list. Check out which companies surprised you.
The Top 10 positions are populated mainly by Chinese companies, but heavyweights like Samsung and Apple will soon lose their top spots.
#1. Samsung
Samsung has been on top for several years now. They have been successful with their Galaxy and Note series. In the past few years, they have added budget phones to their line-up. These mid-range cell phones are also performing well in the market.
Samsung's products have constantly challenged Apple because of their advanced technology (touch screens). Samsung is number one for touch screens since they produce 90% of the AMOLED screens used in smartphones (Samsung makes even Apple's new iPhone OLED screen).
Samsung's investment in research and production of new ideas will keep them safe. Like the case with Samsung Folding Amoled Screen smartphones. People are excited about it and think it is cool.
#2. Huawei Technologies
Huawei Technologies was famous before and is still popular now. They make smartphones for high-end budgets. A few years ago, they started making flagships, which are also very good. Many of them got five stars on reviews by popular tech reviewers.
As of 2017, the company has spent $13.8 billion on research and development (R&D). It separates Huawei from other Chinese smartphone manufacturers because they introduce many new technologies later adopted by other companies.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a wireless charging feature. The recent Trump-Huawei ban damaged Huawei, but they are confident. They have had a good relationship with Google in the past, and they want to keep it that way.
#3. Apple
Some people think that Apple products are better than Android devices. Apple products have good quality and trends. People like using iPhones because they are fast, reliable, secure, and have regular updates.
Samsung S10 series is the top-notch device of the year in benchmark tests, but it doesn't beat iPhone. Last year, Apple lost its place as the second-biggest smartphone manufacturer to Huawei. The reason is that they have been selling less phones in India and China. It is a warning sign for Apple because they need to find ways to sell more phones in the world's biggest markets, India and China.
#4. OPPO
Today, Oppo has a lot of success in China and other countries. They have a good share of the market. They are always trying to come up with new ideas for their phones. In June 2016, they became the largest smartphone company in China by selling their phones at more than 200,000 stores. The biggest challenge they face is Huawei's better reputation in the market.
#5. Vivo
The company Vivo entered the top 10 smartphone maker's list in 2015. Their market share has increased ever since. They focus on making good mid-range phones, but not too expensive.
#6. Xiaomi
Xiaomi has a lot of fans in China. In 2014, Xiaomi became the most popular smartphone company in China. The company also has a substantial market share in India. Xiaomi smartphones include the Mi Series, Mi Note Series, Mi Max Series, and Redmi series.
Unlike other companies who make money from selling their devices and services (like Apple), Xiaomi only sells its software services and cuts prices to attract customers (like Samsung). This strategy has paid off for them.
#7. OnePlus
OnePlus is a company that makes phones. They started in 2013 and have been growing a lot since then. The name OnePlus comes from China, and the people who work there are very responsible and reliable. They make one phone each year, which shows their commitment to quality.
The operating system is Oxygen OS, which provides an experience as close as possible to stock Android with regular updates from Google. After Google's phones, the OnePlus Phone's UI experience is the most satisfying.
#8. LG
LG is a South Korean company that makes electronics. The company has introduced some excellent devices, but it faces challenges because many Chinese cell phone brands exist. One of LG's early achievements was to create a design with less space around the screen – bezel-less.
#9. Lenovo
Lenovo is a company that makes computers, especially laptops. Lenovo Thinkpad is one of the best-selling laptops in the USA. The company also entered the smartphone market in 2012 and quickly became the largest vendor of smartphones in China. Lenovo invests heavily in its R&D program for mobile phone research and development to become number one in mainland China. Cell phones like Lenovo K8 Note have gained popularity in markets like India and China.
#10. Nokia
One of the key reasons Nokia fails in its smartphone business is its reputation. Like Yahoo, Nokia also failed to understand "What's Next."But Nokia is certainly bouncing back now. Getting rid of Windows and accepting Android was a great decision. Nokia is having an excellent start to 2019 and the end of the previous year. In the past few years, the older king has taken a beating from mobile phones like the Nokia 8.
